This permanent visa allows a parent of a settled Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen to move to or stay in Australia
Eligibility

Must have an eligible child who is a settled Australian citizen, Permanent resident, or Eligible New Zealand citizen, unless applying for the Retirement Pathway

Must meet the balance-of-family test, unless applying for the Retirement Pathway or holding a Subclass 173 visa

Must have an Assurance of Support, unless applying for the Retirement Pathway

Cannot have already applied for or hold a Sponsored Parent (Temporary) (Subclass 870) visa when applying for this visa

Due to COVID-19, the Department is not currently asking Family visa applicants to travel offshore. A temporary concession has been made available since 24 March 2021
